The little sermon below keeps popping up in my Facebook feed (with instructions to copy/paste, should the reader be so inclined). I’m leaving it as is—typos and grammatical gaffes and all, as much as they pain me—and will add my thoughts at the end.
THE ORIGINAL POST: “I’m fully vaccinated and boostered. No, I don’t know “what’s in it”. Neither in this vaccine or the ones I had as a child. Nor do I know what’s in the 11 secret herbs and spices at KFC. I also don’t know exactly what’s in Ibuprofen or Tylenol – they just cure my headaches & my pains. I don’t know what’s in tattoo ink, botox and fillers, or every ingredient in my soap, shampoo or deodorants. I don’t know the long term effect of mobile phone use, or whether or not that restaurant I just ate at REALLY used clean foods and washed their hands.
There’s a lot of things I don’t know.
I do know one thing: life is short. Very short. And I, personally, still want to do things. I want to travel and hug people without fear, and just experience more of life…
Throughout my life I’ve been vaccinated against many diseases. Measles, mumps, rubella, polio, chickenpox, influenza, tetanus and more. I trusted the science, and never had to suffer through or transmit any of those said diseases. I’m vaccinated. Not to please the government. Not to make other people do it.
But I don’t want to:
* die from Covid-19…ALONE * kill someone by passing it on * clutter a hospital bed if I get sick
* not be able to hug my loved ones
* live my life in fear
Can’t say it any clearer
Copied & pasted. Feel free to do the same. ”
JENNA’S UNSOLICITED RESPONSE: This may be true for many folks on the planet, but there are also plenty of people who actually do insist on knowing what’s in the things they put into and on their bodies. Crazy, right? Maybe you’re not one of them—hallelujah for free will!—and you found yourself nodding as you read that and thinking, ‘That’s true! There could be ground up beetle parts dusted with crack cocaine in that Claritin I take every morning for all I know!”
Here’s the thing: We’ve been conditioned to believe that the products—particularly medications—we buy are regulated by official-sounding agencies who exist for the very purpose of keeping us safe. Case in point: The “Tylenol scare” of 1982, when 7 people died after popping pills that had been tainted with cyanide. In what would later be considered one of the best PR/damage-control campaigns of all time, J&J immediately stepped forward and announced a recall of every capsule in America, working closely with police, FBI, and the FDA to investigate the terrifying crimes. The result? The public trusted in these groups’ collective desire and ability to protect us, and within a year Tylenol was once again the category best-seller. It had nothing to do with “trusting the science,” but everything to do with “trusting the establishment.”
(As for what various kitchen dudes are doing behind closed doors, I imagine most of us would march right out of Ruth’s Chris if we caught the head chef exiting the head without washing his hands or spitting into the truffle butter. We *assume* the place is clean and that there are rules and regulations in place to ensure that.)
#SorryNotSorry, but the “I do TONS of stupid shit without giving it a second thought” argument is flimsier than a cheap umbrella in a tornado. The COVID vaccines are undeniably different than the others most of us (myself included) have routinely lined up for. For starters, they were rushed to market and thus, have not undergone the safety and efficacy testing other vaccines have. (If they had, we’d have known from the outset that they couldn’t prevent infection or transmission and that they’d wane in a matter of months, wouldn’t we?) They have caused exponentially more adverse reactions and deaths than all other vaccines in history combined—and yet our “trusted” agencies continue to sing a nonstop chorus of “safe and effective,” despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. In what will surely one day be considered one of the worst PR/damage-control campaigns of all time, the folks we’re at the mercy of trusting have shut down all dissenting opinions, denied acquired immunity, outlawed debate, ignored natural medicine, criminalized early treatment, silenced the injured and granted full indemnity to famously felonious drug companies.
“I trust the science.” You do? Really? Since Fauci has declared that he and the systematic study of the world are essentially one and the same, you’re saying you trust one man and his single opinion with your very life? Even if he wasn’t greedy, corrupt and immoral, I’d want a second opinion. The VERY FIRST STEP in the scientific method is to question. Why has there been no rigorous expert debate? Where’s the unbiased, ethical media demanding it? What happened to fully informed consent?
For the eleventy-thousandth time, I hope that everyone who wants the jab is able to get it. I also believe that transparency and informed consent are the crucial, missing pieces of this whole pandemic. Call me crazy, but I want medical advice from doctors and scientists I can trust, not a career criminal, some captured regulatory agencies or the world’s most corrupt pharmaceutical company. (This videodoes a great job exposing the latter. It’s especially enlightening.)
I love how people say, ‘…dont listen to him he’s not event a doctor.’ Then they quote Bill Gates and treat his view as gospel. Funny – not funny. Scary!
